‚great songs, lyrical, jazzy, with intelligent lyrics yet also with enough musical power is what aja (voc) and toni eberle (git) bring within their debut album ‚beleza’. inspired songwriting is what you get these days very often in austria such as the well known combination of wolfgang muthspiel and rebekka bakken. aja and toni eberle aren’t second to these names. toni sets the perfect playground on which aja with her perfect voice skills can work off whether she’s scat singing or within her beautiful phrasing within exalted pop songs. brazilian, soul, folk and certainly jazz are the ingredients of this perfect harmonic guitar and voice duo that immediately got most positive response after appearing on the Ö1 radio station – and that well earned.’ (jazzzeit)

‚singer aja and guitar player toni eberle present a mixture of latin, jazz and pop on their actual cd and are a definite proof for the existence of good duos in austria. the combination of ajas trained jazz voice and the impulsive guitar playing of toni set the foreground of this harmonic and intimate network, supported by keyboard and percussion sounds that remain in the background. special guests on their album are greek percussionist jorgo mikirosis and the austrian trumpet player herbert walser. aja contributes the keyboard sounds. beside ‚o hoamatle’ and ‚flor de lis’ all songs are written and arranged by aja and toni eberle.’ (concerto)

‚the timbre of ajas accomplished voice is to be named soul. they both move between a duo typical intimacy and an free vibrating extroverted elegance. toni plays his guitar on top niveau, as a multi-stylistic experienced accompanist as well as a soloist. you can’t get around comparing them to tuck & patti. but as we know well comparisons lame. and truly the two bring a lot of their own stuff into it. aja and toni celebrate a certain lightness. ‚beleza’ is a soundtrack to enjoy, to day dream, to watch sunsets yet a soundtrack that kicks. ‚no life without groove’ is added as one of the linernotes in the cd cover. and groove is definitely not missing here.’ (akustik gitarre)
